The Ball The ball is spherical. The ball
must be properly inflated. The circumference of the ball
depends on the age group and have number designations.
Under 6 thru Under 8 players use a size 3 ball, Under 9
thru Under 12 players use a size 4 ball, and Under 13
and above players use a size 5 ball. The ball may
be any color. The ball must be SAFE!
The Number of Players The number of players
on one team varies with age group (see your local rules
of competition for specific number of players on each
team). When the number of players on a team is (11)
teams may not participate in games with less than (7)
players. If any players are sent-off (red card) the
number of players on the field for that team is reduced
by the number of send-offs A team may start of play
a game with less than the specified number of players
for that age group as long as it is at least (7)

rules, U-10's must play 8 vs. 8, whenever the
play is interleague. |
The Duration of the Match (CYSA) The match
consists of two equal periods and a halftime. Youth
players under the age of (17) play less than the
standard (45) minute half. Youth times are as follows:

Modified Rules of Field of Play (CYSA) A.
DIMENSIONS: The U-6 field of play shall be
rectangular, its length being not more than 50 yards nor
less than 30 yards and its breadth not more than 40
yards nor less than 20 yards. The length in all cases
exceeds the breadth. The U-8 field of play
shall be rectangular, its length being not more than 70
yards nor less than 40 yards and its breadth not more
than 50 yards nor less than 35 yards. The length in all
cases exceeds the breadth. The U-10 field of
play shall be rectangular, its length being not more
than 90 yards nor less than 50 yards and its breadth not
more than 60 yards nor less than 35 yards. The length in
all cases exceeds the breadth. B. MARKINGS:
- Distinctive LINES at least 2-5 inches
wide.
- A HALFWAY LINE shall be marked out across
the field.
- A CENTER CIRCLE with a six (6)
yard radius.
- Four CORNER ARCS with a one (1) yard
radius.
- GOAL AREA - Six (6) yards from each goal
post and six (6) yards into the field of play then
joined by a line drawn parallel with the goal line.
- PLAYER/COACHES AREA - Twenty (20) yards
long. Beginning at the halfway line go ten (10)
yards down the touch line into each half of the
field.
- SPECTATOR VIEWING LINE - Will be marked
out five to ten (5-10) yards from the touchlines and
behind the player/Coaches Area.
